What does a shockwave module mean?

What does a shockwave module mean?

Conceptual acoustic waves travelling from an applicator toward tissue.
Acoustic concept, not a map of effectiveness or safe settings.

What has clinical research examined?

Acoustic-wave therapy appears in studies of cellulite appearance. One placebo-controlled trial had a small participant group. Such data can inform discussion of a particular method, but cannot promise universal results for every acoustic module.

Is this an electrical shock?

NHS guidance describes ESWT as mechanical acoustic waves, not an electrical shock. Musculoskeletal use may increase pain and sensitivity. Safety information from that setting does not establish complication rates for a cosmetic device.

Why do accompanying interventions matter?

A randomized focused extracorporeal shockwave trial compared active and sham treatment while both groups performed exercises. A combined programme’s result should not automatically be equated with a device’s effect in isolation.

Which technical questions are useful?

The term concerns acoustic, not electrical, “shock”. That alone is insufficient to identify the device. Ask which source and applicator are used and which study they match. Do not interchange focused and radial system names simply because both offers mention “waves”. Also distinguish assessment of cellulite appearance from pain treatment and other indications: research in one area does not automatically support another.

How should expectations be discussed?

Ask what “improvement” means in the offer. Photographically assessed texture, an independent assessor’s score and personal satisfaction are different data. Follow-up duration and the number of participants completing a study also matter. If only best-case photographs are shown, ask about typical outcomes and uncertainty. Base the decision on a realistic aim important to you, not an identical advertising promise for every body.
