Why is a cooling accessory not a standalone treatment?

Why is a cooling accessory not a standalone treatment?

Cold airflow near the skin surface as an accessory concept for laser procedures.
Accessory-cooling schematic. The eyewear symbol does not establish protection for a particular wavelength; cooling does not replace other safety measures.

What can cold air be used for?

The FDA record for Cryo V 6.0 identifies pain and thermal-injury reduction during laser and dermatological procedures as intended uses of that particular cold-air device. It does not establish identical capabilities for another cooling system.

Is cooling identical in every environment?

A study involving 12 participants found that ambient room temperature affected skin cooling by cold air. This illustrates why one console display value cannot fully describe conditions at the skin.

Does cooling replace eye protection?

No. Laser radiation can injure eyes and skin. Cooling does not remove the optical hazard. Appropriate safeguards require separate consideration and cannot be judged solely by how comfortable treatment feels.

What should we ask the professional?

Ask which accessory is used and how its compatibility with the main device has been checked. Request an explanation of pre-procedure checks and how skin responses are observed. Technical documentation, maintenance and instructions are not mere formalities. If an offer says “painless” or “burns impossible”, ask for a more precise and balanced description. The presence of an accessory is not a basis for treating every risk as zero.

How should different cooling purposes be distinguished?

Do not confuse cooling used alongside a laser with a procedure marketed to freeze fat. Compare intended use and instructions, not just the word “cryo”. Our cover directs airflow toward the skin surface and does not depict fat destruction. That is deliberate: the image explains an accessory function rather than introducing a new treatment promise. It cannot determine an application schedule, distance or duration.
