The principle of laser therapy in dermatology is to destroy the target cells without damaging the surrounding tissues. A particular tissue strongly absorbs certain wavelengths of light intrinsic to a particular laser system. When the targeted tissue absorbs the wavelength, the cell heats up and dies.
The Alex 755nm wavelength provides a more powerful absorption of energy by the melanin chromophore, making it ideal for skin types 1, 2 and fine, thin hair. The longer wavelength of 810nm works deeper into the hair follicle with less melanin absorption, making it safer for dark skin hair removal.
1064nm works as infrared red with high water absorption, it is specialized for dark skin hair removal including tanned skin.
The skin cooling system is designed for superficial laser skin treatments. It aims to minimize pain and thermal damage during laser and dermatological treatments and to provide temporary topical anesthetic relief before injections.
Unlike other cooling methods such as contact cooling, cryogenic spray or ice packs, it can cool the epidermis before, during and after the application of laser energy without interfering with the laser beam.
